Hawt

Continuing with the theme of B-side design work, I bring you the newest addition to my not-good-enough-for-my-portfolio portfolio: Hot Sauce labels.
Ben Wood:: Hot Sauce
Ben Wood:: Hot Sauce - Hot Hot Heat
I created these guys here for an introduction to illustration class. The assigment involved creating two hot sauce labels without using the cognitive colors of orange and red. My final execution for these involved die-cutting the labels and applying them to some hot sauce bottles I bought at Cub. I still have the bottles laying around somewhere. More photos to come...

This is not a pipe

Okay, so I was planning on keeping this blog strictly to show off some of my B-side work, but after seeing this, I feel like I have to share. Just released today at Threadless is this great nerdy adaptation of Rene Magritte's La trahison des images. Though I have no doubt that this take on one of the greatest surrealist paintings of all time must seem sacrilegious to some, the 10-year-old video gamer in me wants to purchase one immediately. For reference:

Unreal Typography

Ben Wood:: Letraset Studies

I'm doing some typographic experiments using letrasets for Erik Brandt's Advanced Graphic Design Seminar class. I tried to maintain the roman qualities of the typeface while experimenting with foreign shapes.

Ben Wood:: Obama Inauguration Poster

This is a poster of President Obama's Inauguration speech that I finished a couple of week's ago for Erik Brandt's Advanced Graphic Design Seminar class. The font is FF Chambers Sans.

Numero Uno

Hello everyone! Welcome to my shiny new blog. I plan to use this space to keep a record of my process on my projects as well as highlight a lot of my work that would never make it into my professional portfolio. These first few months I hope to add a ton of work that I have completed through my first few years of school - much of which nobody has seen. Comment. Criticize. Come again.
